Guðný Guðmundsdóttir
Gudný Gudmundsdóttir studied violin performance and musicology in Reykjavík, Freiburg and Berlin. She founded the very successful Icelandic Chamber Music Festival in Iceland in 2008 and directed in until 2015. The festival, which takes place every August, is a platform for young musicians and composers and offers music courses, workshops, lectures and symposiums to it´s participants. Gudný is the co-founder and artistic director of the Skark Ensemble, a string ensemble for contemporary music which collaborates with other art disciplines, such as visual arts and architecture. In 2015 she co-founded Cycle Music and Art festival and is its artistic and managing director. In 2016 was the artistic director of the Nordic Music Days in Reykjavík, the leading festival for contemporary music in the Nordic region. Gudný has an extensive network within the field of contemporary music and visual arts as well as being an active jury member in competitions.
