Einar Torfi Einarsson studied composition in Reykjavík, Amsterdam, Graz, and received his Ph.D. from the University of Huddersfield where he studied on the Jonathan Harvey Scholarship and was supervised by Aaron Cassidy. He has also studied in masterclass and private settings with Salvatore Sciarrino, Brian Ferneyhough and Peter Ablinger. His music has been performed on festivals throughout Europe. Recent work shifts away from conventional concert settings and focus on notational experimentations where the border of music and visual art is explored. During 2013-2014 he was a Research Fellow at the Orpheus Institute in Belgium and alongside composing and doing research he has lectured at the University of Huddersfield and the Iceland Academy of the Arts.
